Scholars in Prison (English)

The Scholars at Risk Advocacy Seminar at Ruhr University Bochum (Bochum4SAR) has the pleasure to invite you to its final advocacy event ‘Scholars in Prison: An Evening Dedicated to the Freedom of Niloufar Bayani and All Wrongfully Imprisoned Scholars’ on 24 September at Goldkante Bochum. This solidarity event for the release and justice of Iranian conservationist Ms. Niloufar Bayani and all wrongfully imprisoned academics is one of various advocacy activities implemented by a group of international students taking part in the Scholars at Risk advocacy seminar in the Summer Semester 2021 at Ruhr University Bochum. In this concluding/final event, the students, distinguished guests and artists would like to express solidarity with these imprisoned scholars and raise their voices for the protection and promotion of academic freedom and human rights globally. Notably, this event coincides with the Global Climate Strike to remind the international community that we urgently need nature conservationists like Ms. Niloufar Bayani freed when natural and human-induced catastrophes are wreaking havoc across the world. We want to remind everyone that we need free science and scientists more than ever for a better, sustainable future.
